Scott Claassen is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and Episcopal priest. Claassen honed his musical skills with stints in Nashville, Austin, and Los Angeles sharing the stage with artists ranging from Nelly to Willie Nelson. In addition to his work as a musician and pastor, Claassen is an environmental activist who spent on a Carbon Sabbath during which he refrained from flying and driving for one year while bicycling around the United States engaging Christian communities in dialogue about climate change. His band often includes friends on saxophone, violin, mandolin, drums, percussion, and vocals.
Apex Manor is the work of Los Angeles-based musician Ross Flournoy. Combining a tuneful pop sensibility with energetic, guitar-based indie rock, Apex Manor was a project Ross Flournoy created following the breakup of his indie pop band the Broken West. Merge Records' 2011 release The Year of Magical Drinking took Flournoy's previous band's hook-laden sound, put a tighter focus on the guitars and let a more personal tone inform the lyrics. Apex Manor returned in 2019 with Heartbreak City, which found him moving between tougher, more aggressive indie rock and atmospheric and introspective selections. In addition to Apex Manor, Flournoy also composes for film and television.
